Strategies For Updating Your Web Site

Once you have decided on your navigation, and created your template, you are ready to begin the task of applying the new template to your existing web site.

Once you commence the updating process, you must freeze your existing site, making only emergency changes. Otherwise, the people converting the site may be working with outdated pages.

As you are working through this process, it is highly recommended that while you have each page open in Dreamweaver to apply the template, you take the time to review the material on each page, to ensure that it is up to date.

When you were planning the content of your updated site, you probably discovered new pages, or even whole new sections that need to be added. That is fairly straight forward. However, you may decide that some pages are no longer required, or should be moved. These pages present more of a problem, so please be sure that you read the section Handling Missing Pages.
